The Engineering of a Black Tungsten Antler Ring

When you're working with organic materials like antler, the biggest failure point is moisture. Raw antler is porous and will yellow or crack if it isn't handled correctly. We use a vacuum-stabilization process to pull the air out of the bone and replace it with a medical-grade resin. It’s a tedious step, but it’s the only way to ensure the inlay is actually waterproof. We then set the antler deep into the tungsten channel; this protects the edges of the bone from side-impacts that might otherwise cause delamination.

As a core piece in our antler rings collection, The Zeus highlights the natural grain variations the "pith" of the whitetail deer. Because we’re working with real bone, no two rings come off the lathe looking identical. We purposely pair the matte sandblasted finish with a polished inner groove to give it some visual depth without making the whole ring a high-maintenance "scratch-magnet."

Comfort-Fit and Field Resilience

We machine the interior with a specific comfort-fit geometry, which is basically a slight dome on the inside of the band. It’s a small detail, but it prevents the ring from pinching your skin when you’re gripping tools or moving heavy gear. Tungsten has a significant weight to it much heavier than titanium which most of our clients prefer because it feels substantial. Plus, the antler inlay acts as a thermal break, so the metal doesn't feel quite as freezing against your skin on a winter morning.
