Common questions
What is a koa wood ring?
A koa wood ring is a wedding band that features genuine Hawaiian Koa wood — prized for its golden-brown, flame-like
grain — set into a durable metal core such as black tungsten carbide or titanium. The wood provides the color and
character; the metal core provides the strength for daily wear.
What does koa wood symbolize?
In Hawaiian culture, koa wood has long been associated with strength, courage, and endurance — "koa" is the
Hawaiian word for warrior or brave. That symbolism is part of why koa wood wedding bands have become a popular
choice for men who want a ring with meaning beyond its material.
What is a whiskey barrel ring made from?
A whiskey barrel ring is crafted from reclaimed white oak staves salvaged from barrels previously used to age
bourbon or whiskey. The wood retains the barrel's natural char marks and grain from years of aging spirits, then is
stabilized and sealed before being set into a tungsten, titanium, or Damascus steel band.
Is a koa wood wedding band durable enough for everyday wear?
Yes — as long as it's built correctly. A koa wood wedding band with a solid metal core (not a standalone wood band)
and a marine-grade resin seal can handle daily wear, hand washing, and light impact without cracking or fading.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, we stand by the quality of our craftsmanship with a Lifetime Warranty that covers structural integrity and manufacturing defects.
How is a whiskey barrel ring different from a koa wood ring?
Both pair real wood with a protective metal core, but the source and character differ. A koa wood ring uses
tropical Hawaiian hardwood prized for its golden grain, while a whiskey barrel ring uses reclaimed American oak
with the smoky char and distillery marks left behind from years of aging whiskey.
How scratch-resistant is the wood inlay?
The metal band itself is virtually unscratchable (ranking 9/10 on the Mohs scale). The wood section is protected by a hardened resin shield. While this seal is tough enough for daily wear, avoid grinding the inlay against abrasive surfaces like concrete or sandpaper to preserve the glossy finish.
Is the wood color natural or stained?
We use 100% natural, untreated hardwoods. The rich golden tones of our Koa and the deep char of our Whiskey Barrel oak are the organic colors of the timber itself, not cheap chemical dyes. This means your ring displays the genuine, raw beauty of nature that will not fade or peel over time.
